WellHeater review 2026: price, features and the VelaWarm comparison

The cheapest heater we compared, by a wide margin — and the one with the weakest public record. Both of those facts deserve a full hearing.

Our score

The right buy if price is the constraint — and only if you go in with your eyes open

  • $49.99 for one unit, $34.37 per unit in a pack of four. Four of these cost $137.48 — about what a single Heatoor costs.
  • WellHeater and VelaWarm are the same product. Same page, same testimonials word for word, same four bundle prices to the cent.
  • TrustScore 1.8 out of 5 from 577 reviews under the WellHeater name, 87% of them one star. Under the VelaWarm name there is no published independent record at all.
  • Most of the criticism concerns the checkout and the aftermath rather than the heat — which means much of it is avoidable if you know what to watch for.

HeatNest documentary score: 1.9/5

Buyer snapshot

The strongest reasons this model may make your shortlist:

  • $49.99 for a single unit — the lowest price in this comparison by a wide margin
  • Four units for $137.48, roughly the price of one competing heater
  • Thermostat, timer and remote included at that price
  • A claimed coverage figure of 12 m² that is at least plausible for a plug-in unit

HeatNest documentary score: 1.9/5

Visual product check

WellHeater is easier to understand once you see the hardware: a small plug-in heater and a simple remote. We intentionally did not use the “90% less energy” ad creative as evidence, because that quantitative claim is not documented on the seller page.

First: they are the same heater

WellHeater and VelaWarm are marketed as separate products. They are not. The two sales pages are the same page with the brand name swapped — the same thirteen section headings in the same order, the same specification list, the same claimed 4.6-star rating and 94% recommendation figure, the same checkout platform.

The testimonials give it away completely. They appear on both pages in the same order with the same wording, and only the first names were changed — on two of the eight, not even that.

Same sentence on both pagesWellHeaterVelaWarm
“I have a small office with a door that gets so cold…”Sally P.Sheila P.
“I swapped out the large space heater in our bathroom…”Jimmy N.Jeremy N.
“This lil heater is perfect for my bathroom…”Peter B.Peter B.
“I bought this small heater for work and its awesome so far!”Jennifer W.Johnny W.
“I was skeptical about getting this heater…”Jessie K.Jamie K.
“I work at an animal shelter that gets hit hard in winter.”Jason M.Jason M.

And the prices match to the cent on all four bundles: $49.99, $44.85, $37.49 and $34.37 per unit at one, two, three and four units.

Why this matters to you: the public track record for this hardware has accumulated under the WellHeater name. Choosing the VelaWarm badge does not get you a different or better device — it gets you the same device with no record yet, which is not the same thing as a good record.

What it is

A compact plug-in ceramic heater intended for a single room. The seller lists ceramic heating plates, an adjustable thermostat, a timer, a remote control, an antimicrobial air filter, overheat protection, a built-in kill switch and a cool-touch frame. Claimed coverage is 130 sq ft, about 12 m².

That 12 m² figure is, at least, a plausible one for a socket-powered heater — more plausible than the 50 m² claimed by the alternative. It describes a bedroom, a home office, a bathroom or a small study. It does not describe a living room, and it certainly does not describe an open-plan space.

The public record, in full

This is the hard part of the review, and it deserves the numbers rather than adjectives.

On Trustpilot, wellheater.com carries a TrustScore of 1.8 out of 5 across 577 reviews. The distribution is 87% one star, 2% two star, 2% three star, 3% four star and 6% five star. The company claimed the profile in September 2024, so it is aware of it.

What the reviews are actually about matters as much as the score. Reading through them, the dominant complaints are not "it does not get warm". They are:

  • Orders duplicated at checkout, producing charges the buyer did not intend
  • Prices displayed in one currency and charged in another — most often a figure read as AUD or CAD and billed in USD
  • Units arriving at the wrong voltage for the destination country, particularly 110 V units sent to Australia and New Zealand
  • Refunds taking longer than expected after a return
  • Heat output falling short of what buyers expected from the advertising

Under the VelaWarm name there is no independent record to weigh. The Trustpilot profile that existed for a VelaWarm review domain has been removed by the platform for breaching its guidelines. That is a fact about a profile, not a verdict on the hardware — but a buyer comparing the two names should know that the absence of bad reviews under VelaWarm is not the presence of good ones.

The practical read

Most of what went wrong for these buyers happened at the checkout, not in the living room. That is worth knowing because it is the part you can control: check the currency code beside the total, screenshot the confirmation screen, confirm the shipping voltage in writing beforehand, and treat the order as final the moment you press confirm.

Price — where it wins

This is the entire case for buying it, and it is a strong one.

1 unit
$49.99
Total $49.99
2 units
$44.85
Total $89.70
3 units
$37.49
Total $112.47
4 units
$34.37
Total $137.48
Lowest per unit

Identical on both brands. And the comparison that makes the point: four of these cost $137.48; one Heatoor costs $137.99. If the problem you are solving is three or four cold rooms rather than one, nothing else in this category comes close on price.

Per claimed square metre it is the more expensive of the two — $4.14 against $2.76 — but that calculation depends on the alternative's unverifiable 50 m² claim, so we would not lean on it.

What holds up

  • $49.99 for a single unit — the lowest price in this comparison by a wide margin
  • Four units for $137.48, roughly the price of one competing heater
  • Thermostat, timer and remote included at that price
  • A claimed coverage figure of 12 m² that is at least plausible for a plug-in unit
  • 30-day money-back window, the same as the more expensive option

Where it falls short

  • TrustScore 1.8 out of 5 from 577 reviews under the WellHeater name, 87% at one star
  • No published independent record under the VelaWarm name
  • No wattage, voltage or safety certification published
  • No manufacturer warranty stated beyond the 30-day window
  • Recurring public reports of duplicate orders and currency-conversion surprises

Frequently asked questions

Are WellHeater and VelaWarm the same product?

Every checkable element says yes: the same page structure, the same specification list, the same testimonials word for word with only first names changed, and the same four bundle prices to the cent ($49.99 / $44.85 / $37.49 / $34.37). We review them as one product.

Why is the WellHeater Trustpilot score so low?

The wellheater.com profile shows 1.8 out of 5 from 577 reviews, 87% at one star. Reading them, most concern the purchase process rather than the heat: duplicated orders at checkout, the charged currency differing from the displayed price, wrong-voltage units shipped internationally, and slow refunds.

Is VelaWarm more reliable than WellHeater?

There is no evidence either way, because there is no published independent record under the VelaWarm name — the Trustpilot profile for a VelaWarm review domain was removed by the platform for breaching its guidelines. Since the device is the same, an absent record should not be read as a better one.

How many watts does it use?

The seller does not publish it. Plug-in ceramic heaters are commonly around 1,500 W at 110–120 V, but that is a category norm, not a specification for this unit.

Should I buy it anyway?

If price is the constraint — and especially if you need to heat more than one room — it is the only option at this price, and most of the recorded problems are at the checkout rather than in the product. Check the currency on the confirmation screen, confirm the shipping voltage in writing first, and keep every email.
